Campapalooza

We're winding down our time in summer camps for 2018. The Summer Sing Camp with the Northwest Girlchoir was a nice surprise. The camp counselors were enthusiastic high-school choristers. Jane spent Wednesday afternoon of camp at Haller Lake with her new friends. Haller Lake is like a slightly more public Gramercy Park. No one in our family but Jane has touched its precious waters.

The end-of-camp concert was good. I like the all-girls school vibe among the older girls. We're signing Jane up for the year-round choir program. With soccer season on the horizon, let the kid-chauffeuring prep/panic begin.

Horace spent a few weeks at a social skills camp run out of various UW locations. It was ridiculous in terms of access: the UW Applied Physics Lab, the Washington Aeronautical Lab, the Joint Institute for the Study of Atmosphere and Ocean Science, the Clean Energy Institute, blah-blah-blah--perhaps Horace has security clearances I don't know about. Horace is extracting DNA from a strawberry here. I'm not sure though if he cares about anything scientific other than combustion.

Horace got a certificate at the end of camp and a third-choice flavored popsicle.

Otherwise, we see friends all the time at Matthews Beach, including Rowan and Killian, fresh off their visit to Ireland and sundry Game of Thrones filming locations.

Inner tubes are on sale at Fred Meyer.

Neither Horace nor Jane will touch Harry Potter for some reason, but Horace read The Hobbit in two days. Maybe Harry Potter is still too scary?
