Camp Nor'wester

Jane is now at Camp Nor'wester for most of July. She's so weirdly brave considering her homebody parents. Those counselors have no idea what's coming for them. She'll have so many people to talk to, incessantly.

We picnicked at Washington Park in Anacortes beforehand. There were chilly breezes coming off the Salish Sea. Hopefully, the smog/haze dissipates soon.

Before COVID, campers would take a bus from Seattle to the Johns Island ferry. This time we kicked our campers out at the drive-through marina. The camp blog has reported that everyone has arrived safely after the two hour-long boat ride.

I watched the car exterior temperature reading crawl upwards on my drive back to Seattle from 85 to 106 degrees. At dusk I finally went on a walk to the lake to pick up Horace who has been going to Matthews Beach several times a day (regardless of weather) to pace and think. Packed with families at 8 pm. The cooldown was already significant, at least to me.
