Beaver Creek 2018

Jane lost a tooth on the first day of our trip. Spruce Saddle Lodge was packed and traumatically pricey. How are we ever to handle Switzerland.

But reliable sunshine. And bone-dry snow. Colorado.

The next day Horace skied for hours pre-pizza with his uncles Kenny and Tor. Jane stayed at home that day because she was having much too much fun with her cousin Julia. They hit it off immediately.

Julia and her little sister Lily (not pictured) are awesome.

Horace skied with me a little too: toots skiing.

Julia went home to await Santa. So, ninja robot Jane booted up.

She and Horace floated down President Ford's run with ease. They are much faster skiers now.

Horace likes being a tourist. The people watching was pretty great. There were many beautiful, wealthy, large Latin American families to gawk at.

Beaver Creek is renowned for the freshly-made chocolate chip cookies offered slopeside at 3 pm. The fact that each kid received a pile of them confused Horace. Jane demurred because she doesn't like cookies. Color [the world] surprised.

Avon, the town we stayed in, has a well-outfitted, empty rec center. I get the feeling that Avon, although not glitzy nor part of the Beaver Creek resort, is still too expensive for its employees, who have to live further afield.

We kicked off Horace's 9th birthday celebration at his favorite restaurant.
