Mazama

Jane ran her first road race! She won best dressed.

The Methow Valley Rodeo was amateur.

The Methow River raged right behind the rental house. We'll look into the relevant zoning regs.

We're still trying to grasp the MV spirit. It's redolent of intentionality: I'm going to eat organic and break that ultra marathon record. Or it's just a place for rich, high-achieving people to seek outdoor cred to justify their NIMBYism. The thing is that people read good books out there. I picked up some Anne Sexton at this weekend's rummage sale, piled on top of the rest of the mid 20th century American canon. No other Western mountain town seems to offer that. Seattle itself barely offers that.

The MV community trails are well-maintained, and Horace had fun off-roading it on his bike. Jane fell off her bike early and stuck to hiking, which was all the better for picking up the tiny pieces of colored glass used to keep the dust down.
